I Heard The News Today

The land where the great wall stands

Is where I am asked to tend

60 suns is how long it will span

now is just a matter if I should bow or bend.

A Hero

Before, it was all fuzzy,
as I knew little about him.
Now, he makes me all dizzy ,
as I learn more about his legacy.

I'm really happy, had a great great great day.

My alter-ego holding my prized possession

While I paid for my John Lennon CD & DVD ,
I suddenly remembered my brother telling me about seeing a
promo poster for The Cure Concert 2007 in this same store a
couple of weeks ago.

So I asked the girl at the counter -
if they have any poster of The Cure that they can give me.
The girl looked confused, asked her colleague,2 of them
mumbled a bit, and disappeared into the storeroom.
A few minutes later, they emerged out with a half-A3 hard-back
promo poster of The Cure Concert 2007 !

Oh, on top of the promo poster, I am also the lucky owner of a couple
of promo postcards of The Cure, when I stumbled upon them before
my meeting earlier today.

I think tonight I will smile my way to bed while counting down
Cure for Fine City .

I'm really happy, had a great great day

My alter-ego holding my copies of the music & film.

I found the Music Soundtrack CD and the Movie DVD
of the documentary " The U.S. VS. John Lennon "
at a music store and I bought both !

Just a few weeks back,
I was complaining about the film not making to this part
of the world. Now that it's finally here in DVD, even better!
Will be listening to the CD tomorrow.
Will be watching the DVD this weekend.

Can't wait!

(Not heard about the film? Let me lead you )

We Don't Need No Thought Control

I had previously twice posted video from Youtube
featuring Roger Waters' 'live' performance of
"Another Brick In The Wall" at the LIVE EARTH concert.

I felt it was such an appropriate moment
to share such a statement made.

So I dedicated this week for LIVE EARTH Concert
and encouraged my fellow readers & friends
to visit their official msn link & view rest of the acts.
Anyway, as expected, corporation rules.
Most of the videos had been removed.

That brings me to bring forward my plan
to share with you
PINK FLOYD's THE WALL The Movie.

I've found this great compilation of the movie's
"Another Brick In The Wall" Part 1, 2 and 3,
in proper video & sound quality.

I've posted the above said video previously, however since
it had been removed from the tube, here it's the clip of
"Another Brick In The Wall" Part 2

So once again - Watch , Listen , Feel , Think

1967 : The Year Beatles Spread Love

What a great discovery!
I found this rare treat on youtube and I just want to share.
Featuring
THE BEATLES performing 'live' 1st time on T.V.
for the song
'ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE'.

THE BEATLES first performed it on OUR WORLD,
the first ever live global television link.
Broadcast to 26 countries and watched by 350 million people,
the programme was broadcast via satellite on June 25, 1967.
The BBC had commissioned
THE BEATLES to write a song for
the UK's contribution and this was the result.

(Also, look out for a young Mick Jagger.)

'ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE' is a song
written by John Lennon with contributions from Paul McCartney
and credited to Lennon/McCartney.

It is among the most famous and significant songs
performed by
THE BEATLES .

LIVE EARTH Concert (Updated)

I've watched LIVE EARTH, not entirely, of course.
I watched it on msn, watched mainly the London concert,
and here & there every now & then.

As I'm over at the Far East,
my sleeping hours is a bit of a mess now,
I'm between unconsciousness as I wrote.

Anyway a picture says a thousand words,
visit LIVE EARTH @ msn to watch concert-on-demand.

[ Update on video clips ]
I had previously shared on this blog a few concert clips from youtube,
but sadly they have been taken off the tube. So for now, you can only
watch all the clips from their official website at liveearth.msn.com

Visited By The Strange

I was reading the morning papers
while having my breakfast.
The doorbell rang.
I peered through the peephole.

There were 2 men -
Man, they look like twins.
What do they want?

I opened the door
but kept the gate locked.

Standing before me,
the 2 men are of
similar built,
same height.

Both in glasses.
Identical hairstyle,
greased and parted to their right.

Identical black canvas briefcases,
although slinged on different shoulders,
they were held the same way in their hands.

Identical black pants with identical black shoes.
Even their long sleeve shirts are folded identically.

Their shirts are of different colour
but they came from the same pastel family.

The one standing closer to the door,
wore a lavender coloured shirt.
The other standing a feet behind
wore a pink coloured one.

Both have this same grin moulded into their faces.

Freaky.

Are they ....

"Good Morning." The lavender man greeted.
"Good Morning." I replied.

Salesmen?

The lavender man continued,
"We were around this area..."

Environment inspectors?

"... And thought of paying you a visit..."

Government surveyors?

" We came to share with you the future of mankind "

Oh god.

Most Hated Thing is ...

... Forms ... ... ... yah, any kind of Forms !

Job application forms, tax forms
banks/clubs/etc application forms,
subscription forms, contest forms,
lucky draw forms, yah, even lucky draw forms !

To be exact - I hate filling up forms.
It's always designed in such a way
to get as much information
in the most confusing manner possible!

And the worst of the worst,
The mother of all forms -
ONLINE FORMS !

By the way ~

Question to ponder -

Why are online forms always asking too much?

Evolution of Personal Portable Music Players

As far as I can remember,
my first encounter with a portable media player
was when I was small,
young and small.

I didn't own one,
my folks couldn't afford one,
but you would hear one
somewhere 'singing' to everyone
on every other crowded public bus.

To be accurate,
it was far from 'singing',
it was what I called 'zschzing',
cause that was what it exactly sounds like,
coming out from a transistor radio -
zipping in & out of the frequency,
with the DJ, and some bands, then it cut to Mr Darkie Man.

As I grew a little older,
the 'zschzing' was hardly there,
instead were the buttons flipping 'tack tack',
as the players were now taking casettes.

Quickly, as time moves on,
when headphones take on,
anywhere outside your head,
the only sound was dead.

It was around the same time,
when I finally owned my first prize,
my very own Walkman player,
which I learn painting using only ears.

Soon the paintings I did became than life larger,
as the bass, treble and eq things,
keep getting louder & better.

As I grew taller,
and of course much older,
I got my second gift when it was about to leave,
this times it plays flat round things called CD,
which now makes my paintings go shiny.

Years have passed,
another new form surpassed,
this time it comes in quite tiny,
called itself MP3.

Out buried many bulky players,
replaced were flat white posers,
few thousand musicians on the go,
all for the sake of every busy urban joe.

Slowly disconnected from the outside world,
as more artists resigned to retreat into dream world,
the giants have now invented a new form,
which conveniently plants into your phones.

Now you can zip from dream to reality,
first you hear the DJ, and some bands,
then you talk to Mr Insurance Man.

All sound good till you listen for good,
somehow the sound was not as good,
with earphones ditched, it tuned up loud & rude.
The sound is now thin, like in a can of tin,
back comes the constant 'zschzing',
everywhere annoying,
every living thing.

And that's my recollection of
The Evolution of Personal Portable Music Players.
